Kitchens are an incredibly fast-paced environment, especially in the commercial industry. Food machinery can massively speed up your processes, saving both money and time, as well as reducing a lot of potential mistakes, wastage, and costs.

Here are a few of the most essential pieces of food machinery for commercial kitchens, to make your workplace as productive as possible.

Vacuum Sealers

Vacuum Sealers are a brilliant piece of equipment, designed to enhance the shelf life and overall freshness of various types of foods. The vacuum sealer works by removing all of the air from a package to create a complete vacuum. The vacuum ensures that no contaminants can enter the package (providing it remains sealed). Removing the oxygen from the package prevents the oxidation of certain foods that cause them to go stale or off. It can be used for a variety of food types including meat, coffee, pasta, bread and more.

Dicing Machines

Food cutting/dicing can be a huge task for human hands, especially when the cuts need to be uniform across thousands of the same food/product. Dicing machines take most of the work out, speeding up the process and reducing waste by allowing perfect, equally sized cuts across a variety of food types including meat, vegetables and even fruit. It also helps improve hygiene within kitchens and other commercial food processing locations as there is no manual handling of the food products, instead allowing the machine to do the work.

Sausage Fillers

As the name describes, a sausage filler is a type of equipment designed to stuff sausage casings with filling. Usually a variety of pork and herbs but they can be used for a number of different sausage products including chicken, turkey and even vegetarian sausages.

Meat Slicers

Meat slicers can be found in a number of different sizes from countertop-sized machines for small volumes of meat, all the way up to large-scale machines capable of processing up to 1,500 kg of meat per hour. Meat slicers allow you to cut a variety of meat in large quantities, as well as certain types of vegetables in a consistent and time-saving manner, reducing man hours, as well as the risk of potential harm or injury.

Mincers

Mincers take a food product (usually meat) and grind it into a smaller consistency or texture, often known as mince. Mince meat is used to create a number of different food products including burgers, meatballs or even just mince itself in dishes such as Bolognese, chilli or tacos. Mincers can be adjusted to create any size of mince required and can be used with a variety of different meat products including beef, chicken, pork, turkey and even meat-free vegan alternatives.

Tray Sealers

Tray sealers are a type of packaging machine that quite simply seal your product tray and the food within. Usually sealed with a specific type of film or plastic coating, they ensure that the product is airtight and sealed correctly so it stays as fresh as possible for longer, whilst keeping an exact branding and look across all products. There are a variety of different types of tray sealers including:

  • Seal only – This is just a top film sealed on to the lid.
  • Skin packing – A full vacuum is created to pull the top film down to form a tight skin effect over the product. Often used on red meat products.
  • Modified Atmosphere Packaging – MAP works by filling the packaging with preservative gases to disperse or remove the amount of oxygen within the container. Oxidation can be harmful to food so by adjusting the atmosphere inside the packaging, it gives the product a much longer shelf life.
